2009 Challenge 103/365 – Smoke
This shot took a ton of time to set up and shoot.
The lighting was the most difficult and there was a lot of trial and error before I got the look I wanted.
I used five light sources;
•Behind and below bottle lighting the smoke (I used a teaspoon full of melted wax and placed it above a candle flame – I found I got a lot more smoke this way)
•Bottle left
•Bottle left high, angled to hit the bottom of the bottle
•Bottle right
•Bottle center front, lighting the logo
I used a tripod and a remote shutter release… I was behind the bottle holding the spoon above the flame. The tripod was setting on the tabletop with the center stem reversed so that the camera hung down between the legs instead of resting above them.
