HBW – Red Sumac
What does HBW mean? HBW = Happy Bokeh Wednesday – a term in the Flickr community.
What is Bokeh? According to Wikipedia, Bokeh (derived from Japanese bokeaji ボケ味, “blur”) is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens using a shallow depth of field.
Did you know that sumac berries are edible? I used to grab a handful when I was out in the woods – they are supposedly a thirst quencher. I’m not sure about that, but they are a nice, sour snack. If you catch them earlier in the summer, you can mix them with water to make a nice lemonade-like drink.

Wow. I grew up in Michigan and saw lots of sumac, but never knew that the berries could be eaten. Your photo is absolutely beautiful. The shallow depth of field makes those fall leaves just pop out. What artistry!
