Autumn Beckons

I took this photo this weekend – some leaves are already starting to change here in Wisconsin. The days gets shorter, there’s less time to get out and get shots after work, the weather becomes less cooperative and dramatic thunderstorms and related clouds disappear until next spring. Still, I’m excited for my first autumn as […]

Incoming

I took this shot on a return trip from Iowa one weekend. I drove through rain and storms for the first part of the trip and finally got ahead of them coming into Wisconsin. I got off the highway and found a nice spot to capture the weather I had just come through. Canon EOS […]

Old Oak

My regret with this photo is that I didn’t take it a couple weeks earlier before the plants had covered up the dirt between the rows. The row pattern is a little overgrown here. Canon EOS 5D Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM

The Past is Up Ahead

Sometimes, getting yourself lost in the countryside is the best thing you can do as a photographer. I think you pay closer attention and notice a lot more detail when you’re not familiar with your location. I do a lot of circling around and turning around when I’m out taking photos. Witness

The difference between a landscape and an amazing landscape is the sky. Sometimes it’s the color, sometimes it’s the clouds, sometimes it’s even the lack of clouds – a great sky will usually make for a great photo. This photo is currently featured on Flickr’s Canon 5D page Canon EOS 5D Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L […]

Cyclone Sunrise

I was in Ames, Iowa a couple weeks ago to oversee some EGD work we had done in Jack Trice Stadium – home of the Iowa State Cyclone football team. The sun was rising and lit up the west side of the stadium, creating a dramatic scene. Canon EOS 5D Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
